Dr Alicia Gutierrez-Romine, Historian
Alicia Gutierrez-Romine is a U.S. Historian with an emphasis on California, the U.S.-Mexico border, race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, vice, and the history of medicine. She has written extensively on the history of gender, medicine, and abortion, including her book: From Back Alley to the Border: Criminal Abortion in California, 1920-1969. Her current research explores intersections of race and professional medicine in Southern California in the 1910s-1940s.
