Dr Yara Haridy, Evolutionary Biologist, Palaeontologist & Science Communicator
“I am an Evolutionary biologist who uses fossils to understand how our bodies got to be the way they are, particularly our skeletons. I am an avid science communicator, advocating for less jargon and more entertainment to guide people into understanding the riches of deep time. I am also an immigrant to Canada from Egypt which has shaped my views on how science is performed in the global south/east. As such I am naturally an advocate for decolonizing science through proper collaboration with local communities. Most importantly I am endlessly fascinated by life, I am a birder, and a naturalist first, and a palaeontologist second.”
