Dr Rowena Abdul Razak, Historian of the Modern Middle East

Rowena has several years of teaching and researching the modern Middle East. She holds a DPhil in Oriental Studies from the University of Oxford where she worked on the Iranian Left in British policy during the Second World War and early Cold War. She has conducted research on Arab nationalism in Bahrain, propaganda in wartime Iran, and labour politics in the Persian Gulf. She is currently working on her first book on Iran during the British-Soviet occupation.
