Dr Michele Koons, Anthropologist, Archaeologist & Curator
“I am a versatile archaeologist interested in ancient complex societies, especially past political/power/gender dynamics and human-environmental interactions. I use geophysical methods and traditional techniques, like excavation and pedestrian survey, and specialize in ceramic analysis, radiocarbon dating, and public outreach. My research has taken me around the US, South America, China, and France. As a museum curator, I am responsible for diverse collections and have directed various museum-based projects, including one on Egyptian mummies. I am passionate about bringing archaeology to the public through lectures, media, and events.”
