Lily Filson, Ph.D. is an art historian specializing in global heritage, architectural history, and the ethical interpretation of the past for contemporary audiences. Her work combines deep archival research, field experience, and public-facing storytelling to illuminate how art, technology, and belief systems have shaped societies across Europe, the Middle East, and the Islamic world.
She is the author of Renaissance Automata at the Villa Pratolino: Magic, Mechanics, and Medici Ambition (Palgrave Macmillan, 2025) and An Expanded Global History of Art, Architecture, and Technology (Kendall Hunt, 2022), with additional publications in leading peer-reviewed journals. Her practice extends beyond print to include museum curation, immersive digital heritage projects, and scholarly films distributed internationally through ProQuest. A dynamic public speaker and educator, she has taught at universities in the United States and Europe and regularly contributes to academic, museum, and public programs.
